Home Theater Project - 56k grab a novel

After finishing my car audio (im sure most of you saw my thread...) I undertook my home audio

situation. I listen to music almost all day long. I like mostly techno and rock.. but rap

occasionally too. My itunes music collection is like 30gb and 17days of straight listening.
It ranges from elvis to three-6-mafia to iron maiden. I basically like ALL music.

My music is playing 24/7 on my computer. Up until this point I was using old Altec Lansings

(95-97ish?). They were "ok" but deff didnt cut it.

I decided to design speakers.. big speakers

As I do with all my projects... the first stage is design. I always use CAD as it lets you see

how it "all works out"

This is the design:

There is a port on the bottom.

The drivers I chose for these speakers were [4] 6 1/2" goldwood midbass and [2] dayton DC28F silk

dome tweeters

The [2] crossovers are Dayton XO2W [3500hz 2 ways]

Pretty cheap at partsexpress [http://www.partsexpress.com]

Here are all of my goods waiting to be put in:

All the wood cut out and ready to be put together:

I spray painted the Express lion (clothing company if you know it) on the speakers.
****ty pic:

The R speaker got it on the R side and L, L lol

Lets compare the old with the new:

(keep in mind.. that monitor is 21")

All Hooked up:

And a close up of the vintage amp [ka-7300]

I am also currently building the subwoofer to match these.. it's going to be a 9kv.2 from

elemental designs (http://www.edesignaudio.com) so that'll be another thread.

Looks good godlyone. I'm sure that old school Kenwood amp is a beast.
