2.2 Volt preamp outs?
2.2 Volt preamp outs?
Are 2.2v preamp outputs enough to run bose speakers at a good volume? i was looking into buying a Pioneer DEH-P5800MP for $180. Any better suggestions? looking for something under $200
If you are concerned with preout voltate, you could get an Eclipse HU for around that price with 5v preouts.
By the way, the preout voltage will not be running your speakers. That is what the amp will be doing.

If hes looking to add an aftermarket radio to Bose, then if wired correctly, his preouts will be powering his speakers.
No, 2.2v will not be enough. Get an Eclipse, or a deck with at least 4v preouts if you want your preouts to power your stock speakers.

ok thanks for the help. Looks like the CD 2000 ($186 total) is the only one within my range. two more questions though...does it include mouting brackets? and how hard is it to get the factory bose headunit out? i have a 98 se.
You don't need brackets, your HU will mount to the OEM radio mounting brackets.
The screws are a bit of a PITA to get the Bose HU out of the bracket Use a #2 phillips, press firmly, TIGHTEN till you hear the screw click, then loosen.

ok so im sitting here in class and pulled up crutchfield looking for a head unit with more bells and whitles than the CD2000. I found the JVC KD-G820 ($184 buy.com). I really like the usb flash drive feature. and the voltage on the preamp outputs are 4v for the front and rear, 2v for subwoofer.
I know that everyone recommends all the high quality and high priced head units, but im just looking for something decent for a decent price. What do you guys think about the JVC unit?
Heres a link to it:
