would like help on the same situation for my 96 max non bose. Just picked up some speakers for the rear today, but the hook up is different from the factory ones. The factory speakers had a wire plug in directly to the speaker itself. Can i buy an adapter or something to hook into the factory plug in and then hook it into the hookup with the speakers i just bought? Or do i have to strip the wires and just wrap them around the hookups for the new speakers? Any advice on to where I could pick up such an adapter, or which wires are the positive and negative ones. I have red and green wires on the left rear side of the car, and blue and pink on the right rear side. Thanks in advance for helping an inexperienced installer out.

If its a small brown harness that plugs into the factory speaker, than CC sells adapters thatd make it plug and play, for 11 bucks a pair iirc. Or you can get female quick disconnects, cut off the factory plug, and crimp on your disconnects.

The colors will not be the same, but if you look in the trunk and see that the harnesses plugged into the rears are small, almost square, and brown, then yes, you will also have those harnesses plugged into your fronts.

The speaker harness adapters are Metra 72-7400 or DW-7400SH (the same thing)
