you're going to get lots of port noise. i would either go with more port area or try to flare the ends of the opening a bit to reduce turbulance.

im just fallowing the specs that pioneer gives out, .5 cubic feet, with the 3" port, seems big enough, but worst case senarion, ill just put in some really low density foam in or before the port, we'll see, but thanks for the advise though.

Have you considered it in the other direction? Flipping the ports into the trunk and the drivers firing into the interior? My guess is that it will rattle the hell out of your bumper/rear plate, and you'll just enjoy some of that whistle off the ports.

The speakers look great. I'd love to know how they sound when you're done.

i can always just turn the box around, but i think having the ports into car will direct most of the bass in the cabin, remember this box is free air, the subs are not sealed.
ill post comments on the sound as soon as im done with it, prolly by thursday.

actually you are correct free air doesnt even need a box at all , what i meant, is that there is no sealed chambers.

The port only produces a small portion of the sound. The output of the port peaks at Fb and drops at 12db/octave.
