One of the most ignorant statements Ive heard in a while. Especially because you're too lazy to do the install? Nobody here is going to help you with that attitude. I have a Ferrari outside thats broken that Im too lazy to fix so Ill just keep driving my Geo Metro.

Red Tops can be found for around 100 bones.

(i got probably about $80ish to spend.) oh and ill be using the battery not only to start my car but to run my 700watt system off too.

Your question was already answered-more or less. People are here trying to help you and you didnt like what they offered. Your other thread is being reopened and merged with this one. Continue name calling and youll experience a little vacation.

Haha, I was going to ask whether or not I should buy an Optima and then I found out about doing the "big 3."

Honestly, I'm glad that I read about those rather than just going the ignorant route and installing more things to a system that would benefit more from doing the "big 3" than just buying an expensive battery. Hell, I think the "big 3" would be good advice to anyone regardless of your vehicle or how crazy your system may be.

If you don't have the $$$ to buy a new battery, get off your lazy azz and do the Big 3, much cheaper than a batt. and will probably solve most of your current problems...

but, I would also recommend the Optima, look around online and you can find the YellowTop for ~$135-$140 if you try hard enough. I think I bought both of mine for ~$225 shipped.

see, heres why i dont want to do the big 3:

1) it makes the engine bay look like crap with wires strung across it. (not that big a deal tho)

2) although i do most of the work on my car, the mechanics i go to are retarded and would probably go "what the hells this wire for?" and rip it out. i know that because its the same few mechanics my friends go to (they dont do their own work) and the mechanics didnt understand what the POWER WIRE from the subs was for. so they disconnected it. i mean, with the power wire, no not a pain in the ***. but having to hook up all the big 3 wires again kinda would be.

ok....i guess im giving in. lol didnt take long.

now can i used 4gauge wire or does it have to be 2gauge?

sorry for bein a sh*thead, i get like that sometimes.

edit: actually scratch that. i have some 5gauge...is that too small?

another edit: after doing some research, i still havnt come up with what gauge to use. but i have a question. one site says the alt -> battery cable needs to be fused with a like 300A fuse, the other says it doesnt. which is right?

Get some wire loom and black zip ties and your engine bay wont look bad at all afterwards. The bigger the wire the merrier, but Id probably want at least 4 gauge.

what size is the power wire you have running to your amp? That is more than likely what you want to use. Keep things consistant. If you have 2 ga running to your amp then use 2 ga for the big 3. Wire loom and zipties. And I would stop using the mechanics that you use if they don't know their way around cars.

i got 4 gauge, so i guess ill go buy some more of it. and yea, i rarely go to any mechanic anyway. the guy i was talkin about i recently found out way over charged me for some tires about a year ago. so i probably wont go back to him.

http://www.bcae1.com/wire.htm

Safety:
Any time that a tap is made off of a power source (battery, fuse block, distribution block...), you MUST put a fuse inline as close to the source as possible. Another thing to keep in mind is that you must insert a fuse inline anytime that the wire size is reduced, such as a tap off of the main power wire for an amplifier, head unit, equalizer... The fuse must be rated to open (blow) well before the wire starts to overheat. A secondary but very important consideration is environment. Is the temperature going to be extreme, hot or cold? Is there anything like oil, grease or solvents that will come in contact with the wire's insulation? All of these things have to be considered to build a reliable, high quality system.

Wire Gauge Recommended
Maximum Fuse Size
00 awg 400 amps
0 awg 325 amps
1 awg 250 amps
2 awg 200 amps
4 awg 125 amps
6 awg 80 amps
8 awg 50 amps
10 awg 30 amps
12 awg 20 amps
14 awg 15 amps
16 awg 7.5 amps
These are the recommended maximum fuse ratings for the corresponding wire size. Using a smaller fuse than what's recommended here will be perfectly safe.

120A fuse if your running a normal 4th gen alternator. A 300A fuse is pointless you can never be too safe.
