HAiLiNG Don

i have a weird problem with my system. ive had a coupla people look it over and no one can figure out whats going on.
at what seems to me like independent intervals the amp cuts power resulting in my music skipping almost like a cd would...happends with all my media (cd's, i-pod, radio).
today, when looking into the problem, it seemed like there was a corrilation between higher sub volumes and the amp cutting in and out. however, i could be driving for say 30min and with out touching anything it starts cutting in and out on me. Green light on arc5150 flickers.
No problems running just my front components at whatever volume i want.
we went over all the wiring and theres seems to be no shorts, loose connections, ect.
the volume floor for any clipping in my system is around 60. im experiencing the problem usually after i go over 35. and 35 isnt loud by anymeans.

any imput from anyone is much apriciated. the experience is like listening to a scratched cd...very painful.
thanks, alex

The final impedance isn't wired too low for the amp to handle is it? (that arc amp is pretty stout...pretty wierd for it to cut in and out like that unless something is pretty wrong)

What subs are you running, how are they wired? It seems like something is mechanically wrong somewhere, probably not a wiring issue.

what size wire did you use for the amp ? Hows your ground is it sanded down extremely well? When you crimped a terminal on the wire did you do it correctly... Same goes for the power wire. I dont know how many times ive seen people crimp the terminal incorrectly causing problems.

Did you check the wiring inside the box as well? Maybe the terminal in the box or the tinsel leads on the sub are flaky.

ok honestly its nearly impossible to solder a terminal to a 4 gauge piece of wire, so im just gonna assume that its not crimped on very well.

the terminal connected to my ground wire was heated with a butane torch and the soder was melted into where the crip on the connecter is. then bolted to the ground... Make sence??

don ill call ya after i look at my sub...could you pm me your # please?

update: may have figured out the problem
my bass boost was hanging loose under my drivers seat and some how got turned all the way up. this was causing my sub to clip at high volumes and my amp responded by turning itself off then on, the sub would clip again and it would shut off again causing the skipping sensation. i disconected the remote boost contorler and set it to 1/4 power on the amp itself.
could this have caused the above mentioned problems i was describing?
so far so good...no skipping for about an hour on any volume.
thanks Rob for trouble shooting the problem with me.
keeping fingers crossed for no further problems.

Sounds like you get it, and that can cause the problem.
