Help with choosing amp!!!!

I'm looking to buy an Alpine Type X 10" Sub to put in my rear deck...
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...&lang=en&tab=F

Can someone point me in the right direction on choosing a decent mono amp for it? I would like to get 800W-1000W out of it if possible...

And... How do you obtain 14.4V instead of 12V? Is that a switch that the amp has, or...?

pretty certain those subs are not meant to be mounted IB, just put it in a box.. if you're settled on alpine, why not get an Alpine V12 amp or something like that? good, reliable, clean amps.

14.4v is when the car is running, 12 is when the car is off, thats all.

What would your recommend for mounting in my rear deck then? I don't need 1000W of power in my rear deck, I just like to know it's there.
But yea, I'm not looking for anything I'm going to put in a box, I need something for my rear deck... Still need suggestions!

DLS makes some good IB subs, Kicker, Ascendant Audio have all been installed IB and sounded good.

why do you need 1000 watts on one sub running IB that seems a bit much. Or I should ask what does the rest of your system consist of? If you will only have a sub being powered off an amp and the rest stock then only thing you will here is bass. As for subs I don't think that alpine is a ib sub. ID makes a sub that is ib, Alumapro, Assasin, dyn mw 192 can also be IB. not sure what your goal is. Also what is your budget?

Ahahahah, I somehow knew you guys were gonna laugh at me. lol. Oh well... I'm here to get advice. I have stock BOSE right now, and looking to upgrade the headunit, probably something good under $250 for that (need advice on that too), and just to add-on a sub... I hate not having a sub... 99% of my music I listen to is techno, so I need a sub that will give me tight bass... and not too much... maybe around 400-500W will be fine for me. So... I need suggestions, on: 1) Headunit. 2)Amp. 3)Sub (Around 400-500W and tight bass). I'm not looking to upgrade the speakers YET... Don't have the money for them yet... But definitely will be a project coming up pretty soon.

I need lots and lots of suggestions, takes me a long way to get talked out of something I'm into... I'm one of those people......

Oh, and forgot to mention... The sub would still be for the rear deck. And... WTF does IB stand for? LoL.

ok first things first. The HU I would say the eclipse cd3000 for starters. IB stands for infinite baffle aka free air. If you are putting a sub in your rear deck then more than likely that is what you are going to need unless you build and enclosure off the rear deck. You still did not give a budget of the sub and amp. But I would say and Imagine Dynamics ID 10 or 12 or and Arc Audio Arc series 10 would do the trick. As for amps that is really going to depend on your budget. I can throw out a bunch of amps but if they are out of your price range then what is the point. but for ****s and giggles. You could do a Arc xxk 2500 or 2100, DLS reference RA 20, or you could find a cheap amp off fleabay.

First off. Ummm... For prices, I guess I would spend around $200 for the sub (that's how much the type X I was looking at was where I saw it), and I'm sure if I'm not going to spend all those money on a sub you're recommending me, the rest would go towards the amp. For the amp, I would probably spend around $300-$400... So... Let's just start off there. And like I said, I'm looking for whatever sounds best for techno.

Second off. I am probably just going to put the sub in my rear deck with no box... Unless you tell me that having the box there would make a HUGE difference in sound.

Third off. Quality is definitely something I'm looking for when considering everything I'm buying for this setup.

box type, size, and installation could make a massive difference in sound than installing IB.

Hmm. I see. So can someone recommend me some subs and amps that would be the best choice for the budget I mentioned above? And how do you figure out if a sub is IB or not...? Do you just look at the power and use common sense? Or weight...? Or what do you look at?

there are a few ways to see is a sub is Ib capible. The first it would tell you that it is. The other way would be to look at the Q of the sub it it is .5 +n you should be good to go. Now there are not a lot of subs that play IB. It is not that. Now you can find subs that take small enclosures so that you won't have to take up a lot of trunk space. Building a box for the sub will make a big difference if you are not putting a good amount of power to the subs. I take it you are going to have someone else do the work for you. You have to seal the deck very well if you are gonna run IB off of it. It can be a tricky install. As for sub if you wanna stick with the IB theme and only spend $200 on the sub I would say look at the Assasin 8" or is you could find and Image Dynamics ID10 or 12. you listen to techno so you want something that pounds. If you are not against building a box or using a prefab box. I got a Arc Audio Flatline 12 that will give you all the bass you want and then some. It is in the for sale section. Amp that can be tricky I am more in to high end stuff so I may not be that much help to you. PM Don (Pearl96max) he can help with that part.
