How to improve sound quality of NON Bose Headunits
I would like to improve the sound of my stock system. I already have aftermarket speakers for the front and rear but was wondering about adding a sub or any other tip to improve the sound quality of the stock headunit.
Thanks!

there isnt really much else you can do other than replace the stocker HU. you could add amps, but the signal coming from the stock HU is really messy... replace it, you will not be dissapointed.. its a night and day difference..

I figured this would be the answer from many of the members however I would like to retain the stock radio to prevent the temptation of theft of an aftermarket unit while retaining the sleak look of the double din.

There is things you can do to tweak and tune the system using a factory source unit with aftermarket amps and such, but it will cost a little. There's all kinds of signal processors out there that would do the trick. Personally I've got the Rockford 3Sixty.2 tapped into the non-Bose source unit. Upgrading the speakers, adding a sub and some amplification is always a plus. My cheesy theory is that won't want to steal what they can't see. So the factory CD player is muted by limo tint all around and 35% all the way down the windsheild.
