A level controller??? Even an aftermarket will not output more then 17watt RMS at 4 Ohm because of the internal voltage conversion. So the answer is NO. BAD IDEA and factory are usually even much less. You can always get a good amp with a High line lever and auto turn on to hook up to your factory radio.

I ran my subs with the stock non-bose hu for almost a year, and I thought it sounded good. I used an amp though. Mine popped really loud whenever I turned off my radio or cd player, however. But besides that and the lack of control, using a LOC, amp, and subs worked well for my budget. Unless you turn the gain down on the sub's amp, it might overpower your stock speakers. So you got to worry about that too.
use an amp, and a line out convertor they can be had pretty cheap, or you can pick up an amp that has speaker level inputs life the JBL BP series. Then you could just tap into the speaker wires and I believe they have an auto turn on.
