Routing Sirius antenna from outside to inside

Hi,

I have the Sirius Sportster unit. I've currently got the antenna mounted on my dash but I've been running into occasional reception problems. I want to mount it on the roof of the car by the center of the front windshield. What is trick for getting from the inside of the car to the outside? I don't see how to get through the rubber insulation without tearing it to shreads.

Thanks.

get a credit card, put the antenna where you want it, and run the line along (underneath) with the 1/2" piece rubber thats on the hood, all the way down to the door hinge area, from there you should be able to find a safe way to get it into the door boot, or possibly just jump it into the car without the danger of choping the line in half when the door is closed...

did that make sense?

i haven't done a maxima, but have done it this way for dozens of other cars, and the outcome is nice and clean.. and hidden.

I put my Sirius antenna on the roof just off the rear passenger door. I ran it to the rubber trim and then under the trim all the way to the end of the trim, which is at the intersection of the front quarter panel and the front passenger door. From that point, I ran it over the door trim (about 2" exposed) into the car, under the dash and to the Sirius head unit.

Setup is on a 2000 Maxima. Works great.
