Poor FM reception while car is on

I'm having static on all FM stations while the car is on. I have a JVC aftermarket receiver and I thought adding a powered antenna would help so I purchased http://www.crutchfield.com/S-3Z0yBQG...search=antenna. Static pretty much stayed the same. The weird thing is my reception is static free when the car is off. What could be the problem? 2000 GXE

well if its a 5th gen, then you have to atach the factory radio amp to either a power source. i used my amp on because my head unit doesnt have antena on. it sounded good but got a little static. after added a few amps to the system it got worse, so i put it to the 12 volt that turns on the head unit. works perfect now. when i first put the hu in i didnt know about the factory fm amp. you could get some stations when the car was off but as soon as it moved it was over. probably same issue.

I have a GXE (No Bose) so I dont have the wire for AMP if thats what you meant. Do you mean I have to connect the "G/W (ANTENNA)" wire to the "PU" or "Y" positive signal?

Thanks!

ya all 5th gens have an fm amplifier built into the car. search for oem antena amplifier in the how-to section of 5th gen. you'll find the color codes and what you need to do.
