Wiring these Hertz...(Don, maybe...?) (:

Man, these have me STUMPED...I am about to hook them up, and the instructions just confuse me. With these inline crossovers, do I wire them up in parallel to each channel of the amp? Because the directions show these inlines AND dedicated standalone crossovers...(See steps 12 & 13 in the directions- which refer to the 163 S, not the 165 S, but there is no reference to the 165, specifically). Then, the instructions talk about how to build your own x-overs for the systems on the next few pages, and that the inline x-overs are only fo ruse if these serve as center channel. I don't really understand...

Let me know what you think. If all that I have to do is wire them up in parallel, then I am fine, but the directions say that I need to go active or use a standalone passive box for each channel.

Pat, just wire them in parallel. You will be fine. The tweeters have an inline passive crossover. Mids should be hp'ed off the amp.

But uh..... maybe wait for teh Don to chime in too

The mids have an inline as well. So my first thought is to wire 1 12/14/16 gauge from the amp to each door and then crip/soldier (spelling?) a Y that tails off to the lead to the tweet and the lead to the mid from there.

This was what I was trying to confirm when I opened the instructions, and they have NO wiring diagrams that have anything LIKE that (as far as I can tell). ALL of the diagrams use active x-oves or standalone passives.

Thats what I would do, esp with both having in-line crossovers.

What is what you would do? Run them in parallel?

With the directions not specifying, I am not doing SQUAT until Don looks them over!

wire em in parallel and reap the benefits of a 2Ohm load for a bit more headroom.

Don, does hertz have 3 way setups wih dual woofers? I see that in their manual however it's a pita to navigate their site and go through every comp set they have to figure it out

In the .pdf it shows 2 woofers 1 mid and 1 tweeter.

Will do. You can ignore my email.

I may experiemnt with co-axial mounting of the tweets in the doors...or maybe using the kicks for the tweets...

Is there an OEM location for tweeter mounting?

Btw, did the set come with multiple resistor values?

No- but if you read the instructions, doesn't it sound like they SHOULD have, or like you need to go out and buy/add different ones?

Yup it does, but assuming that the resistor values in there match what is listed on the pdf, you're good to go. Wire'em up (in parallel) and go .
