Pictures of 4th gens with A/M radios installed

I just installed my pioneer 3900 in place of my bose and crutchfield's pocket just stinks. There is a rather HUGE gap. i have mine HU pretty much close to flush mounted because i like the flush mount look rather then the HU sticking out almost 3/8 of an inch.

I'll take pictures of my setup now. I just wanted to see how and what options i have for the pocket under as i might want to redo everything before i completely bolt everything in. I'm currently leaning toward the OEM flip down pocket but i haven't found too many pictures of that setup on cardomain yet.

Metra 99-7417 dash kit. Itll cage mount the radio to the dash kit, and recess the whole kit (including the radio) flush with the dash, rather than having the face plate somewhat stick out the way an ISO mount does. And itll still give you a pocket below the radio.

I got another metra kit from crutchfield. what is "ISO mount" independant sleeve option =P

I just saw the pic of that kit, freaking why cant crutchfield gave me that looks so much better. I think i might do that metra kit or a OEM fold down pocket pending on which is cheaper and easier to source.

ISO mount is mounting the radio to the factory brackets, NOT using the chassis.

with our cars, it looks so much better to do it this way IMO..

i think i did that... not too sure. i removed the cage that pioneer had and bolted it right up into my factory slots 4 bolts. But cause of that i need to get that other metra kit or OEM pocket now.

thanks. i assume local bestbuy's/ circuit city has that metra kit.

well here is my install with a Alpine 9883

overall i like it very much so far, the bass isn't there compared to my Bose but overall it is clearly and a cleaner sound from the get go, plus i liked the mp3, i think i'm going to slowly start doing my audio now.

If you swap the postions of those two parts the HU and the door you will probably get less of a gap if any at all.

is there a way to use the faceplate trim that came with it without making the radio stick out a little more and drilling new holes? BTW, is this known as ISO mount or no?

swaping the postions would take the gap ALMOST away, but i think it looks a little odd that way, i have tried. its also a lot better using the OEM pocket then the cheap crutchfield pocket on the pioneer i had earlier
