The JVC SH99 is a very nice receiver, it has gotten good reviews, except that some people still fear the JVC name. Motorized head/face plus the fact that its JVC has some people scared. But the fact that you can find it for around $300 online, plus its face is not cheap feeling, makes it a good deal. The buttons are all solid, thats actually metal you see in the pics.

I own the Kenwood eXelon z828 .. gets good reviews as well, but costs a bit more. ($450-500 online) .. i got it 492 or so locally (after tax) from Maximadave. Its a very nice head unit as well, and you can use internal amp, or mute/disable it.. for the people who hate built in amps on head units. (Kinda eclipse like feature) ..

A lil cheaper version of the z828 is the Kenwood KDC8017 .. you can ask Maximadave how much that one is if you're interested in it. Its also a nice deck, loadtimes are a lil slower than the 828 or SH99. The other difference is that its preamp outs are only 1.8v, and theres only 2 of them. (might not matter to you)

Whatever you do, do not buy the aiwa decks. Can you say SKIP?

I did a lot of research into the mp3 headunit .. so if anything, feel free to ask. There are 2 VERY nice headunits on the horizon.. Alpines, and Clarions (been delayed, im still on that waiting list) ..
