Hello

I have a 1998 SE 'project car' that needs both airbags, and the airbag computer that sits between the front seats.

Have located a good price on the Bags in Canada, have the exact part numbers I need based on VIN for about $550 each US. (Same price as what the US junk yards want for unused ones pulled from wrecks)

They (Canadian Dealers) also have the $650 computer control that matches the VIN. Nissan Part number = 28556-1L225, or 28556-1L226)

However..... they the Canadian Dealers ALSO sell new 1998 airbag computer controls for the 98 SE for about $300. So..... can anyone tell me why I cannot buy the less expensive controller?

This stuff is soooooo expensive.

My logic is that if I buy all three parts new from a dealer in Canada and they match my year 1998 I have a good chance of success.

I also have offers from a wrecking yard to sell me a 96 controller box for $250, with a guarantee that they will refund my $ if it does not work. (They claim it will, and that the plug is the same just in a different place.)

Also have offers from Junkyards for all 3 parts for $1275 but If I can get new for $1300-$1500 I would prefer new parts.

Sorry for the long post, but hope someone has gone through this and can help advise me.

Go to the 4th Gen forum, and ask for Daniel B. Martin in the subject line. He really only hangs out there. He's a Nissan Mechanic that can answer most questions people have.
