Or by metra lol I looked it up...www.metraoniline.com
http://www.metraonline.com/product_l...20pkg&type=ALL

It doesn't even have the 70-7551 listed. Even though I've seen it listed before...

The eyelids are holding up pretty well.

Update: 3/29/07

Decided to paint the dash kit exterior color. KV3 Grey. I'll be sanding / polishing when the paint has fully cured. I think it'll look nice once installed.

Kicker 0/1 Dual Amp kit came in on Wendesday. The wire is huuugee! It's going to be perfect if I ever do upgrade to something that needs more power. Flexibility is really nice on these, but they're really heavy. I think that after the install is done I'd have about 70 extra pounds or more added to the car.

Next are the spacer rings made from mdf for the doors. Thanks to an org member for these!

Update: 4/17/07 Just a few more goodies!

I've ordered 14ft of VB-2HD from ImageDynamicsStore on Ebay, this is to do the outter doors. The order should be in by this week or next week.

I plan to do the inner doors in Damplifier + Sludge. Same for the trunk.

Here I have some Cascade Audio deflex speaker sound deadening.

2 sets of Monster Cable 25ft speaker cable

Then the realllyy sexy HU...

Pioneer Premier 780MP!

I'll be modifying the dash kit so that it looks more OEM than aftermarket. At the moment the HU doesn't sit flush with the kit with either trim ring. So I'll be leaving in the dash kit trim ring and cutting where possible to fit the Pioneer trim ring. Sounds weird, but it'll look good when I'm done!

I should be documenting my own stuff too lol. But I'll just wait for the final product cause mine is going to be really clean. I think some people might get a suprise out of what I did instead of my original plan.

Ah it's just the Canon PowerShot A510. It's my pocket camera, but I have another with a larger lense for not so amature looking shots lol. Funny thing is the PowerShot has more shutter speed choices in manual mode...

Hmm to be back on topic...The ARC Audio KAR 400.2 is in my trunk at the moment. When I get it out I'll be posting it up here. It doesn't look bad for used!

Does anyone know how to test an amp without connecting it directly to the car? I don't have any wiring at the moment, but want to see if it works.

Oh and what do you guys recommend for amp placement? Keep in mind I have 2 amps and want a stealth install. Think of ways to place the amps with enough air flow and still be out of sight.

Plan A:

I was thinking in between the rear seats/sub box for the Solid Audio amp, and maybe the Arc Audio amp on the side of the trunk near the wheel well.

Plan B:

Place the sub offset to one side of the sealed box. Then the Solid Audio amp on the side next to the sub. This way it shows off the amp which is black and allows cooling. The ArcAudio (silver) amp will go in between the rear seats and back of the sealed sub box.

But I'm open to better ideas!

Under the seats for the amps.

You may end up needing more speaker wire depending on where you mount the amps.

Is there really enough room under the seats?? I didn't know/think there was. I'll check that out.

Oh and another update!

Sexi in silver lol.

Yes there is room under the seats. Atleast the Kar amp will.

As for the rest, great pics. I also love to see you planning this out so well. Great job so far.

You will need wire to test your amp and a 12V power source or power inverter. Do you think there is something wrong with the amp?

Hmm I may have to wait to test it. Well I bought it used off of someone from another forum, and just wanted to make sure it worked.

But, I took a look at the internals really closely and they looked fine. Looks like it was only used for a few months or so.

Update: 4/19/07

Okay well like I've wanted to do for a while. I finally recorded the stock Bose system. This is so that I can see if there's a diffrence when the aftermarket system is finished. I know my ears will pick up the diffrence better than the camera, but this is just to document things really.

The rear deck is deadened underneath with Dynamax Extreme. The top deck is lightly deadened with Cascade Audio. Mainly around the sub area.

Oh and I placed an order in with Anthony at SSA.
Awesome guy, I'll get my order of damplifier really soon. Can't wait to install that into the trunk first!

So here is my stock Bose system playing off a CD.
(The low rumble is my exhaust...the floor will be deadened later on)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=0-0tv9KaITc

You'll notice some rattles, but it's not too bad. This was the only song that I noticed hit the main bass notes which caused the rattles.

Stay tuned everyone!

Will do ASAP lol, from the beginning I always said it sounds flat. But I was content with it until my speakers started cutting out, and cds skipping.

Alright this is from CarAudio.com as a copy paste, I forgot to update you guys!

Well to update everyone lol uh I called my installer guy and he said it would be next weekend. (too busy this week)

Sooo...

For the moment the install will be:

05/05/2007

It's done raining up here, nice and sunny out. So it's time to remove the trunk lining and get deadening!

I've done little bits of modding while this hasn't been updated.

I was tired as heck the other day so I slept in real early. My hands/arms are still sore from putting all that deadener down.

For those who've suggested before..."Wear latex gloves while putting in deadener"

LoL both me and my friend got cut up from 5 hours worth of work.

I say we used about 60ft to do the trunk, trunk lid, + rear deck top. Still have 60ft left and hopefully it's enough to do the floors. Also have 2 sheets of overkill pro for the floors. That'll be done later on maybe after the audio is installed.

I noticed a slight decrease in road noise/wind while traveling on the highway. The exhaust isn't as loud also. But that's all from doing the rear half of the car only so if the whole car is properly done I'd say it cut the noise down to maybe half.

Mini Update 4/28/07

Well I left my other camera in the car again. So...I just took a few pics with my other camera of things that I've done.

I've pre-drilled the spacers and went ahead and attatched them. Didn't like the whole mdf look and the fact that they weren't protected from water. Just a few sprays of paint took care of it.

Got bored and took pics of the stickers that I'm "not" putting onto my car. Right now they're just in a folder.

Well it's 5 days and counting down until this goes in!

I've done a quick photoshop of what I want it to look like once it's done.

Let me know what you all think though...and of course don't be afraid to share your ideas!

I would place the solid audio amp in between the rear seats and the box, but that's where the arc kar amp will go.

I was thinking of putting the amp either on the trunk floor with plexi to show it off, but I want to be able to get to my spare tire easily.

Also looking for it to look asthetically pleasing. I really want the 15" fi q to be in the center of the box, but no idea where else to place the amp.

Thanks for your opinions

that looks pretty nice.

one problem i see though...is that the bass might not be as loud as you want. i have a similar setup..with a baffle going from trunk floor to the rear deck...and it blocks quite a bit of bass from getting into the cabin.

strictly SQ though, the bass is enough...but if you wanna get some SPL...that baffle might need some tweaking to allow more bass into the cabin.

I'm going I guess for SQL? If there is such a thing.

I don't want it to be super duper loud lol, I might pop an eye out or somethin'.

Hmm, but you do like how the set up looks for the trunk?

Any suggestions on placement?
Sub/Amp...I think I like how the box looks, unless someone has more suggestions for something that looks better. If anyone has a better box plan idea, then let me know I think I"ll be building it to 2.3cu ft.

yes there's SQL

i like how it looks the way you have it. i would have the amps recessed in though, so the top of the amp is flush with the panel. that way you can hide the wires on the other side of the board.

Great that's 2 votes lol

Alright at least I didn't say SQSPL or something...haha I didn't want to seem too much like a n00bie at this.

LeX has had to deal with my audio questions though. Haha that's what makes him a good friend. Lot's of patience.

But, how did you do the recessed amp space on your box?

Do you cut the square and build a mini box to hold the amp in or is it another panel in front of everything to hide the wires?

Well I'll see tomorrow what I like best. I would like to hide the amps and make it look really clean, but at the same time I like to show things off. So...I may just have to flip a quarter for this haha.

Okay so ...

Update: 5/01/07 It's time for silence...

Well something closer towards it anyways. I finally got the pics resized and all that for your viewing pleasure.

I bet the UPS man loves me today...nearly 50lbs worth of deadening arrived at my door.

Argh I don't want my parents seeing this! So into the car it goes! That is why I love tinted windows, since the boxes wont be super noticable.

I kind of forgot to take pictures of what was inside the 2 boxes of damplifier. But that's alright, this overkill pro is awesome. Really heavy duty stuff. I used some of it in the rear deck to cover most of the rattles. Even though I spent 2 hours deadening the bottom and top of the rear deck the rattle is still there slightly.

Not too sure right now though, because my Bose sub and amp are not audible. I took them out, and the bose is playing infinate baffle inside the trunk haha. Well either that or my trunk is just deadened so well that I can't hear it. But I don't think so...

Close up of the thick Overkill Pro- Thanks goes to Anthony over at SSA(Second Skin Audio)

Doing a little bit of product placement here...
