So this is where it all begins...an empty trunk. Naked rear deck. I think I'm in love. Haha nah.

Here you can see that I have left over Dynamat Extreme from deadening the bottom of the rear deck about a month ago. It was my first time deadening as you can see by the little pieces. But, for the rest of the trunk large sheets were used.

The tedious process of putting down deadening. Like I said it took about 6 hours to do the trunk, trunk lid, and top of the rear deck. Maybe 50sq ft of Damplifier was used. 1~2 sq ft of Overkill Pro for the top of the deck. It took about an hour to remove all panels, and such maybe 30 minutes to put it back on. Good thing LeX was around to help me with everything or it would've taken 2 days!

After a few hours...

Donnee...

Forgot to take pictures of the rear deck all done. But I went from the top of the rear deck down to the wheel wells. I didn't have enough time to do the area underneath the seats since it was dark out.

I took it out for a test ride that night, and it did make a slight diffrence in road and wind noise. Once again the sub could not be tested out, so we will see how the rattles are once all the audio goes in.

Sometime in May I will begin to deaden the floors with Damplifier and Overkill Pro to reduce exhaust and further road noise. It was a GLE after all, and I want my luxury of silence back!

So until next time...I still have a noisy Maxima. Haha

sound over looks...don't do Gordon's setup. Keep it simple and enjoy replacing rearview mirrors.

edit: just saw the pix...the SS mat looks real thick I'm impressed. My damplifier has done me well.

Who which one of these guys is Gordon?

I took a lot of time reading about each deadening product...and Damplifier was my best bet, since it was in my price range and all. Great stuff!

Oh and MetalMaxima is where I heard of the stuff from first. Saw his deadening overhaul man it was a crazy worklog thread and I loved it!

Edit: Nevermind, Gordon is AscendantMax lol had to do some searching/reading. No I'm not a stalker. I mean I want it the way I have it in my photoshop, but once again we'll see. IF I like the amp underneath the rear seat or not

The bose sub was infinite baffle when it was on the rear deck, if it's in the trunk now, it's not because the front and back waves are not seperated, just FYI

Oooh okay well I think I'll just stick with the amps on the box it's self instead of under the seats.

By the way, I like to get things done right the first time. Haha

Update 5/3/07

Well I just got in the last thing before it all gets installed this weekend.

Can't wait AAAHHH!!! LoL plus will be getting an alarm installed at the same time. That way I can have some sort of peace of mind.

T minus 2- days and counting hehe.

So back to what I have here...

It's a Stinger SXBTM battery terminal. It cost a pretty penny too, but I thought it would be a nice accessory. It's black chrome and has a digital voltage read out. This will come in handy whenever I want to know how the battery is doing under load.

Odd thing was that USPS reported it delivered a day early. So I panicked and thought maybe it got lost.

But it got here within 3 days thankfully haha.

It's felt like Christmas at my house for the past few months lol.

Close up of the terminal inside it's packaging. So shinnny!

<== Gordon

don't listen to what slickrick says jk

he's just worried that your bass output won't be high enough due to that panel spanning the entire height of the trunk.

Well she's gone...

I'll actually be able to get it back on Sunday, depending if I can get a ride to pick it up or not lol.

He said he'd be able to get it all done within 2 days, but I have a problem with getting back and forth to drop it off/pick it up which is why I dropped it off early

They say Fi Q is more known for it's output, so I think it may even out once it's in. It'll definately be better than the Bose setup!

I've listened to LeX's car with a sealed 15" Brahma and thought it was odd that the bass notes were more crisp and tight than the Bose sub. I guess I just got used to the bass notes being carried out (resonating) through out the car. So I know that after it's done, I'll have to get used to listening to it.

Will update everyone when it's done!

Also does anyone want video of it once it's broken in??

From any speaker to another speaker its going to sound different. Most aftermarket subs should/would produce deeper/crisper notes than the bose dependant of course on what sub you go with.

I for one. Just auditioned a 18 FI Q yesterday and while output was substantial, musically it left a little to be desired. Not bad, but not my cup of tea for an sq oriented sub.
