Purpose of Metra 70-7551

What is the purpose of Metra 70-7551?
Does it bypass the Bose amp to connect the speakers?
Or does it allow a head unit to connect to the Bose amp?

Thanks!

Allows an aftermarket head unit to connect to the Bose amp. The factory head unit sends an unamplified signal to the Bose amp, and this adapter takes the radio's RCA preouts (unamplified) and sends that signal to the Bose amp.

I am pretty sure the PAC one is the best one. The Soche one sucks.
