Advice on a few things...
Hey guys, I need some help with settings and how to set my amp for a certain subwoofer.
Alright my amp is a Kenwood 9102D
-Bridged RMS Power: 850W x 1 @ 2 ohms
The sub i want to power is a Soundsplinter rlp-12, now, I need to know if my amp is going to overpower or underpower. I need to know what the following settings should be on the amp, i got this picture from someone online.

Now, I want to get components in the front and have decided on the SLC's...Will
this amp be sufficient?

Enclosure for the woofer is going to be a sealed 1.0cF
Thanks guys, I've done a lot of research but just want to make sure the amps I have will be sufficient.

We can't tell you what to set it at. The one thing I can say for sure is keep BB DOWN ALL THE WAY.
Now what you would want to do is run a test tone through the system turn off everythign else and get the amp up to the proper voltage for the sub. You would want to take the rms power times the resistance since you'll be wiring in parallely RMS power x 2 and then take the sq rt of that number. That is the voltage you want the amp set at .

Alright so thats for the input sensitivity correct? RMS power that is fed to the sub or what the sub is recommended for....its 850RMS@2ohm from the amp....Also on the amp, there is are 4 terminals, should i wire a voice coil up to each terminal or how should i do this?
Thanks
anyone have any more advice??? I am not quite sure how to do the calculation, if the resistance of the sub is 2 ohms say and i want to run 600 watts to it that would be 1200 and the square root of 1200 is no where near close to any setting on the amp...
I apologize for my ignorance on this subject.

YOU DO NOT USE THE AMPS RMS.
You use the speakers. If you use the amps that wouldn't help. SO if you have a 4 ohm driver that takes 35 rms you take 35 x 4 and then the sq rt of that = 11.83.
What you really need to do is take your car to someone who knows what they are doing.........

I'm sure there are steps to "tuning" and there I'm sure there is advice out there on the subject.
Back on topic, should i start low on the gain with bassboost all the way down, and then slowly turn up gain, also say my gain is halfway up, does that mean that the wattage is half of the amps rated RMS is going to the amp?
there is unfortunately no cheap scientific method to setting gains...and if you study how music is made you will realize much fo the rap music is clipped and throws off your gains anyway. Set EVERYTHING to flat on your radio and amp, and then only adjust the input sensitivity according to how loud you will ever tunr up your radio. for instance, I tuned my gain to volume 45-46/62, so I never go past volume 45 when playing any music. In reality, I dont go past 42 because It becomes unenjoyable. Then, adjustyour h/u settings to your liking.
Yes but be sure to set the gains at a high level of volume or 3/4 of the full volume level and then set the gain. Make sure there is no distortion from the sub at the level you intend to keep the amp at.
