Bose w/ subs question (PAC AOEM-NIS2)
Bose w/ subs question (PAC AOEM-NIS2)
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=468065
sorry to bring up an old thread, but how do the aftermarket subs coincide with the bose sub that's already there? I only see something on a "PAC AOEM-NIS2," not sure if that's the same as the "PAC OEM-NIS2" since it's been a year since that thread had been up. Does anyone have any tips or advice on doing this. I know I could replace the head unit and then all the other speakers and what not but I don't want to and I want to look in to this first.

The reason for adding subs in the first place is to ditch the less-than-desireable bose subwoofer. It simply gets unplugged or removed. The bose sub with an aftermarket sub doesn't sound good together.

I haven't hooked subs and an smp for awhile, but IIRC, from the amp, there is a remote wire, grounding wire, the * gauge wire that runs from the batter, the wires that run from the amp to the subs and then an antenna wire as an option I believe. Is there anything else other then that and is the PAC AOEM-NIS2 the correct wiring kit that runs to the amp? Other then those things, I think I am good to go unless there is something else I am missing.
Buy an amp kit. This will have the remote wire, RCA's, and power/ground wires.
From the PAC unit, the only thing you'll need to wire is the remote wire to the amp. The factory harnesses just plug in. Pretty neat unit.
Run power wire down the driver side, and remote/RCA's down the passenger side. Ground amp in trunk. Leave the stereo out, but plugged in when you're testing the system. You'll need to adjust the levels on the PAC unit before putting it all back together.
The sub gets unplugged at the trunk, it's the only connector going to the sub
