no p-eq, no eq at all, actually. Just High-pass filters, 80,120,160,200, bass, treble, sub control. thats about it. Take away that, 4v preouts, and the color of the preset numbers, and you have the '06 Alpine CDA-9857 deck.

the ipod capability/control on it is top-notch however.

Id wait for the 9887, its just the 9835 with newer interface, and better DACs.

Aside from that, i actually like the way it looks.

budget is around 300 or so for a new deck. i'm not set on that alpine. damn tuition hikes are really putting a dent in my bank.

Id highly suggest the alpine CDA-9835.

Its funny cus i just sold mine to get the 9885 (I wanted better Ipod control, its really just temporary till the 9887 comes out )

did more reading and searching about the preouts...seems like the whole damn lineup can go apesh*t at any moment if it's not properly grounded, or this small fuse inside the head unit blows.

I just got this a few weeks ago. It's pretty good, but having to go through all the menus to change settings kinda sucks.

thats cause you're used to pioneer menus and anything DIFFERENT is "difficult" for you.

I was messing with the dudes 9855 man that thing sucked, forget about adjusting bass and treble, you can't even find it, lol.

yes everything. everything you could need to use, scrolling through menus, adjusting the peq, etc.
