Are headunits from 5th gen maximas interchangable between the years? I want to add an ipod to my 2002 but the stock deck won't allow for this. I'm just looking for something low profile and cheap, and a 2001 deck seems to fit the bill, the only concern is compatibility. Anyone know?

 

The 2 headunits are interchangeable between the 01-02-03's but neither of them are capable of supporting an ipod. You'll probably lose the steering wheel controls since they might have different wiring behind the face.

 

I was curious about this as well. The 02's have a 6-disc changer built in, while the 00-01 have a external changer. The port on the back for the changer allows the use of an aftermarket adapter that can allow connection to an ipod.

 

neither of them are capable of supporting the nissan ipod interface - the 01 will support the usaspec one.
