02 HU install misalignment issue

Ok help me out here because I'm confused as F***. I just got back in town and installed my new CD7100 with the "coler matched" (yeah ok) scosche kit. New brackets from DaveB since I had the Navi before. I get everything installed and working no problems and go to add the Vent and scosche plate and realize the HU and pocket are like 3/8 to 1/2 inch too high. There's only the standard bold holes and **** only goes in one way. I don't see how on earth the factory could have messed up my brackets since they are all probably stamped from the same die. Unless I can figure it out I'm going to have to use the black scosche kit I have laying around and that things is even uglier. Any body ever seen this problem hopefully it was something I missed since I havn't pulled it back out to double check things.

if you bought the kit it should have had the install instructions with it. you need to drill 3 new holes on each sides of the bracket to lower the hd.

Uh yeah it did say that. What a POS I wouldn't have bought it if I would have known that. Maybe I'm just having a bad day but the holes they have on the template are actually higher than what I have now and it's not explained very good. Since it was only going to be a short term solution untill I buy the 130 vent/trim piece and pocket anyway I used the older scosche piece. It didn't fit the greatest and the black looks like @ss but does the job for now.
