3rd Gen With Active Speaker System Powered With Clarion Amp

Ok, I've searched and searched and I can't find anything on how to bypass the amp to the rear speakers. I did find an old thread from way back in 2003, but the link to the DIY is outdated, so I can't pull it up. Does anyone have the directions on how to get my rear speakers to work by going around the amp? I just installed a new HU with wiring adapters and all, but only the fronts are working (as was the case before the swap). Any information is very much so appreciated.

I don't think their's any amp/amps on the non bose model the power feeding the speakers came from the factory h/u. I would suggest to just run new wire from your h/u to the rear speakers.

On the GXE with the "Active Speakers" in the rear, they are powered by a factory Clarion amp. It's all from the factory

ya i have the same problem as u. I have a gxe without the bose system and but it has a factory clarion amp under the back dash. I recently replaced the factory speakers with some aftermarket ones. Since doing that.. my new speakers will cut out at a certain volume. I think that factory clarion amp has something to do with it. I was thinking of running new wires from my deck to the rear. But i'd like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to fix my problem.

just run new wires. the wires in the 3rd gen are pretty small to carry any decent amount of current. i ran new wires in my old 3rd gen from the head unit out.

a possible cheat is to look at the color of the wires (They use a high level input into most of the amps- IE Speaker wires instead of RCA's ) look at teh colors going into the amp. match those up at the front connect the rear speaker wire to those.

clip those same wires at the "input of the amplifier" and just extend them to the speaker.
Me personally i would run new wires but this is an easy way to bypass most factory setups without running all new junk
