Rear Components?

I have an 02 maxima and I replaced the front components earlier this year with a set of rainbows (thanks Don). I blew a rear speaker over the weekend and I was thinking of putting a set of rainbow components in the rear. Has anyone done this? If so where did you mount the tweeter?

No components in the rear. Throw a midbass back there if you must have something.

I'm kinda in the same shoes. If Don will sell some 6.5 woofers I'd like to get in on this deal too.

Rear comps would sound nuts... anything is possible... just need the right person to do it.
wouldnt throwing a midbass in the rear kinda limit the vocals ?? for people in tha back of course because we are driving right up with the tweeters

If you Must run rears, then a simple set of coaxs or midbass drivers would do the job just fine. No need to invest into the comps just for the rear.

That is the point, music should Not come from the rear.

So what do you tell a person attending a concert? Should bought better seats? Its irellevant where the people are sitting, the music should still not be coming from the rear.

well at a concert yeah... the closer the better... i learned that at ozzfest.
im definitely agreeing with you tho.
midbass sounds good for the rear, but if i were to go through with that, and got a sub and amp set up... would the bass over ride the vocals?

Its all about level matching with the sub and frontstage. Technically you really shouldnt 'hear' or 'feel' the sub, just know its pressence. An ideal setup though would have your sub upfront, unfortunately with cars that is a very difficult task.

You have full control of that ^. It's all in how you have your system setup.

I have rear componets and i mounted the tweeter in the pillars on the side of the rear deck similar to the older Jettas. everybody who has stepped int he car really likes it and the passangers appreciate the tunes back there.

I wish I'd have spent a little more money to get either components or some kind of specialized bass drivers in the back instead of coaxials... they really blow when compared to my components up front.

well a midbass would do wonders compared to a stupid coaxial, thats what im thinking on doing... but having the same setup in the front and the back is the question at hand here...
we already got one happy customer ...
and we have one experienced guy say it aint worth it...
the more info the better

Dual stage setup then.

Midbass only in the rear, and full range from the front stage, or at least as close to it as possible.

In a 5th gen it def is not worth it. In a 4th gen it was becuase the sound is bouncing off the glass so I could notice a diff in sound with them in and out. As far as the 5th gen having the mounts in the doors I dont think it would be all that worth it. I curently run Jl vrs all the way around amped at like 55 wats a piece and I am pretty happy with them as well as the passangers are too.

it's tempting becuz it sound so good in the front. then again i wouldnt cut to mount them i would stick em up there with some Velcro strips if anything....
in the 5th gen the passengers in the back wont go def when the music is playing since it's lined up right with there ears. i think they realized this and put them in an ear friendly zone.... however since your driving in the front you dont really hear the back speakers... so why have coaxial... why not midbass? makes sense... the front tweeters will do fine for the people in the back...
personally it's not worth going through the trouble of running comp for the back.. save your money get some amps and a sub... if you already have them.. then buy something for your mom or something... stop being greedy!!

wtf why don't people listen lol. Anyway in MY PERSONAL OPINION. IF YOU MUST USE REAR SPEAKERS..... Get the same Driver/mid that you have in the front and put them in the rear, that is the best possible solution for the rear speakers. It's either that or nothing at all..

Care to elaborate? Im quite curious to the relvance of the brand/driver where they NEED to match. Timbre matching perhaps, but brand and type? Sorry I cant compute that data.

heh, its a matter of opinion. Like i said its my personal opinion i just feel if you MUST have something might as well put the same mid in the rear that you have in the front. For me it just gives you a little bit extra.. Not that it matters if you have a sub you wont really be able to hear the rears anyway, but using a mid just kinda adds a bit to the system in a goodway, as well as it not ruining the sound stage. But hey everyone has there right to there own opinion.

why run only midbass in the rear if you're trying to do 5.1? or was that reply not intended for me?

I dont really hear my rear speakers since they are located at the floor level behind the seat. I got kx165 coaxials for the rear, and slc components for the front. When I'm driving alone I fade to front only and it sounds much better. Only use for rear speakers is when I have passengers in the back, for them the subs overpower the front speakers. My .02 cents.

I think that you should get a midbass for the rear if your building ur system from the ground up. you wont really hear the coax's but atleast you can feel the midbass drivers right??

because of 2 seats blocking the sound waves??
this is why some fade to the front, and let the back bump when passengers are there

Wouldn't that make it logical for them to fade to the rear? 1) They generally fade to the front to keep from pulling away from the frontstage. 2) There's a midbass in coax's too so they can just be low passed or turned down.

since i have comps in the front... it sounds 3 times better than a coax's. Fading to the rear would just be ..... gay
unless your talking about keeping the balance equal???

That is not the reason to fade to the front.

I'm just going by what you said.

I'm not talking about keeping the ballance equal, hell I don't even run rear speakers at all.

hahahaha, rear speakers aint worth your time than huh??

Well this thread is talking about running comps in the rear because people like the quality given in the front. They were thinking on doubling the pleasure.

Midbass's and coax's are merely suggestions on satisfying there sweet tooth for more.

I see, true, what i was getting at was that my drivers bump way better than the coax's i ran thru... i went through about 3 or 4 sets. I have some good pioneers ones too... Keyword, good, not superb.
In my car i dont have a sub or amp yet but will get an amp to pwer the speakers next for getting a box.
Since i dont really hear the rears to much, even tho the levels are equal, i was thinking on just getting drivers for the rears. not ness. comps but it's a thought in my eyes.

When i refered to people fading to the front, im not sure exactly why most people do it, but i was doing it for a while and noticed a tiny difference becuz my rears sound somewhat muffled becuz of the seats.
