Best choice amp for subs?

I have 2 Kenwood KFC-W3011 12" 1200 peak 400w RMS subs and i have a choice between 2 amps

a JBL GTO 4000 600w amp
http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xFS?KW=jbl+gto+4000&FN=&FD=0

or a Sony XPLOD 600w amp
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dV4OUFU...sp?i=158XM2100 (similar to this, not sure exactly)

could also use a recommendation on wires and a link to a site to buy them from

thanks

Out of those two choices, I would choose the JBL (link is broken so dont know the exact model number). Though you can probably do better if you buy used...

For wires and such, you can't really beat KNU...

woops sorry, fixed the links

they are both used, the JBL is gonna cost me $100, and the Sony is gonna cost me $200 (with 2 Sony XPLOD 12's that ill sell for hopefully like $50, and a box)

and for the wires, im assuming i need an amp installation kit? not sure what else, pretty much a newb with this stuff

you're right, i didn't even click the links lol. now that i did, i see that those are multi channel and do do near the power needed for your subs, i suggest looking for different ones.

the subs are 400w RMS max, 300w per sub from the amp isnt enough?

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/1180.html

tri-mode: 2 x 100W + 300W for sub

At WHAT LOAD ?

We need the impedance of the subs. You can rattle off amps all day, but if theyre not compatable its useless.

if its a dual 4, you'll only be able to get a 1 or 4 ohm total load.

if single 4, then its either 2 or 8.

need to find this out before we can help you further

well, it seems that everyone who has made a choice between the 2 chose the JBL, so thats probably what im gonna do unless Don can match me up with something better, or someone recommends something for around $100 shipped

Update: the guy with the JBL backed out on me, so i just went out and bought a Pioneer GM-7300M

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products...00M/print.html

gonna wire it at 2 ohms

new question though, are these plugs for the subs?

other set says "Front" both have a red and white plug

You can use the rear or front for the sub amp.... but you will have no sub control through that HU.

You know you're only gonna get 250rms or 360 rms to your subs... You have not properly stated your voice coil config and failed to listen to anyone on the forum.

im not looking for huge bass, the only reason i got 1200w subs was bc they were at a good price, they are 400w rms which is plenty of power for what im looking for

if you look up a few posts, i said they are dual coil, if thats not what you mean then i dont know what you are asking me

edit: also, why wont i have control using those plugs?

If the subs really are dual 2 each, you can get a total 2 ohm load to the amp.

you wont get control on that deck because those preouts are really intended for highs amps, you need a 'sub out' pair to get sub control at the deck.

I believe your subwoofers are single 4ohm, to receive a 2ohm load, wire them in parallel. Here's a diagram to show you how to wire them to receive 2ohms.

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=160

You should receive total 360rms watts from your amp.

ok ran all the wires and ran the power wire directly to the battery, and the system control wire to the power antenna wire so that the amp gets powered when the HU is on Tuner or CD, and is off when the HU is off

anything dangerous about that? or anything i should be careful about with this set up? the guide that came with the amp said to wire it to the ignition switch so it had power when the car was on, but id rather not have the amp powered up if not gonna use it
