Installation on 3rd gen- Question

I just got an Alpine (9857- $100 on eBay) HU and wanted to install it in my '89 Maxima w/ Bose. I currently have the single Din Bose cassette w/ a cup holder tray beneath it. My question is do I have to use an installation kit (trim ring...) to make the new HU fit snuggly? Also, what else will I need to bypass all the Bose stuff?

-Alpine harness?
-Aftermarket harness?
-Nissan power antenna adapter?
-????

Its a wiring harness. Dash kit is replacement for the oem parts that hold the radio in place. NOt sure exactly what the 3rd gen kit holds.

Thanks for the help so far. I think I have all the right adapters ordered/bought. Now I need help with the speakers and install.

I temporarily have Pioneer 3way 6x9's for the rear and just got these RF 6.5"s for the front. What do you think? Will they work well off of deck power (Alpine-9857)?

if you're buying from ebay, you might as well get the wiring harness. they're less than $7-8 shipped. at best buy or other retailers, i've seen them go for $20-30.

don't waste your money on a dash kit. way back, someone told me to buy one, and it's still sitting in the garage. 3rd gens don't need them. just iso mount it. this way, you can keep the cup holder.
