I am planning to dynamat my ride soon. Cause this is one rattly car. I plan to do the doors and trunk areas. Obviously this will require a lot of material. So I am looking for more affordable dynamat alternatives. Any help will be appreciated.

Why do you want alternatives? You don't like Dynamat or it's a price issue?

There was a really nice guy I dealt with named Rick McCallum and he quoted me some fair prices on something called RAAMMat that came highly recommended. I never bought it from him but he was very cool and I'd recommend you ask around about RAAMMat then maybe drop him an e-mail:

raam@raamaudio.com

good luck

I can vouch for Rick. I bought Raam mat from him too and it's great stuff.

I will say that price is a factor. Simply because of the volume of material that I will need. I also wanted to check with some of the participants on the board because I read some posts that mentioned other material manufacturers. Some people felt the alternative material was easier to manipulate, more pliable, stickier yadda yadda yadda. I will send Rick an email on the raammat. Thanks

Sweetsound you are a sound deadening stud. I want to do my car but I will concede that I won't be doing it to the extent that you have. Congrats I would love to hear your system. So hi temp mastic or the Raamat?

A combination of both. Remember, the heavier the better as the heavier mats stop vibrations better. I'd say use hi-temp on the floor, trunk and rear deck and use raam mat for everything else. I suggest using multiple layers also.

I have a friend who works at Circuit City who I got the Dynamat from. That s**t is 129 a roll for the good pack. It did come with 3 different types of Dynamat in it. 1 roll of Ultra for the trunk deck, 2 rolls of premium for the wheel wells and 3 rolls of regular for the other spots of the car. After I put it in, I had to turn the gain on my amp down a little. I know price would be an issue but that Dynamat is amazing. Check around to see if someone has it cheap.

Screw the Dynamat, just get it cemented!!!

Anyways....no, there's alot of other alternative like the spray, or the stuff in a bucket.
V-block
L-mat
Brown Bread (awesome stuff, 5 X better than dynamat)

or go to ebay and type in dynamat, there'll be other stuff

Nope, not at all. It's real easy. All you have to do is clean the spot you are going to stick, heat the dynamat and stick it. I installed mine on a hot day, so I place the dynamat on the top of the car, it was more than hot when it came time to put it in.

yeah, very easy to install but beware!!!

Make sure you clean the area very very well before applying and use a roller to get all the edges and make sure it sticks or else you'll be sorry later.

Dynamat does't tend to stay on alot of cars.

RAAMmat is wonderful stuff, especially for the price. I got 100 sq ft. for $118 + shipping. I've never seen anything stick like this stuff does. Once it's on, it aint coming off without a fight. The Dynamat I have in my wifes car on the other hand, has loosened in some spots, so I'm going to apply another layer of mat, but I'm going cheap on her, and getting the "Peel&Seal" from Lowes for $13 a 12.5 sq. ft roll.......
