Remote lead screwing me up

Ok here's the jist. I've go one amp powering my front and back speakers and another one for my sub. this setup has worked for me before. But I've since added a capacitor and I think that may have changed the circuit and caused a disruption. my sub isn't working. I think it may have something to do with the remote lead but not really sure. I thought all i'd have to do is run the remote lead to one amp and go to the other from there, but whenever i try to do that, I lose sound to all my speakers. once I remove the lead to my sub amp sound is restored. Has anyone had this problem before? I appreciate any helpful comments. I plan to troubleshoot the system again. probably just use a circuit tester to see if i can find a break anywhere. can anyone give me some pointers as to where to focus the search? thanks

You should use a relay off the remote wire, prob not enough voltage for both amps. I've daisy chained manytimes before though, with no problem. Maybe try removing the cap which you don't even need anyway.

nismo- how would the relay work, or what kind of relay? i having trouble understanding how a relay (only familiar with a couple types) could facilitate the functionality of both amps.

i've tried t tapping, didn't work either

the amps shut off the moment i try to connect the remote lead to the sub amp

Now that I remember, this might have happened before. But the solution didn't make a nickel of sense to me. The t tap approach didn't work so I ran two remote leads, but both from the head unit (both crimped around the same wire) and that fixed it then. I don't think it should have made a difference since theoretically i didn't change the wiring. That was when I didn't have the cap, which i got because i intend to run two subs and want to relieve some strain off the charging system.

I haven't really had the time to do some real troubleshooting, but i thought i might try to save some time when i do by posting here first. thought maybe i'd have to change my wiring scheme with the addition of the cap

Unfortunately the cap is going to ADD strain to the electrical system.

You're connecting the remote wire while the car is on and the system is running? I wouldn't risk blowing the remote out from the HU doing gthat.

actually i guess the capacitor would add some strain, since it would need to be recharged constantly, but it does smooth out the voltage rail of the battery, allowing it to sort of quasi equilibrium, and capacitors do act as filters. they've got pros and cons. i know a lot of people don't like them, but i could swear my system sounds a lot better now. i guess it's hard to tell what the real reason for it sounding better is or whether my mids and highs will stay as sharp and clear when the sub starts hitting. I think i'll try disconnecting the cap.

as for the remote lead, even though it only happened one or twice, i guess i should be more careful with that when i troubleshoot, thanks for the heads up

so you fixed it?

are you sure its a positive going down the remote lead? (suggesting maybe its shorted somewhere)
