Adding an Amp & Sub

OK, I've been out of the aftermarket audio game for awhile now but I'm looking to add a 12'' Kicker Solobaric sub and an amp to my Bose system. Used to be you needed to use an in-line converted to lower the amps for input into an aftermarket amp. I assume I still need to do this right?

Is it possible to add this sub and amp without affecting any other speakers on the car? I believe back in the day when I did this to my stock Civic I had to chose to lose my front or rear channels. This would be because the converter would be on that channel.

Any help would be appreciated.

On the older maximas the speaker outputs from the Bose headunits were already LOW level so all you had to do was splice some RCA's on there, then run a set to the back. This makes it easy also to upgrade your headunit if you want to...no need to rerun rca's.
Maybe it's the same for 6th gens....I'm hoping others will chime in.

The problem with doing this is I'll lose those speakers correct? I mean if I use these speaker wires (let's say the front speakers) then I can't keep using them in their stock configuration can I? OR, would I still be able to leave them hooked up as usual and still splice RCA's into the wires?

They can remain connected, your only splicing the lead.

So I splice directly behind the HU? I assume this is prior to connecting to the stock amp? Is there a schematic for the Bose HU, so I know which wires to splice?
