Which is where you said the amps are 'ok' for the price. Looked pretty general to me for the company as a whole, forgive me if I somehow read it wrong.

oka whatever, I am not hear to bash heads with you in any case but when I was looking for and amp to power my subs I was looking at a JBL gto then decided on the mean machine which I am extremly happy with. JBL is way more popular in Europe atleast from what I saw when I went to Ireland and UK they love the stuff.

I'm out of this thread,

Don get me some JL's to test/compare to the 5024 other subs I've used. If someone hands you some from their old install, I'll put'em through the test.

How in da h3ll did I miss this thread?! JL all day...okay, not really, but IMO, JL "arguably" revolutionized the subwoofer market with the W6. SQ was very exceptional and SPL not bad for 300RMS. Still today, JL products are probably better than 60% of car audio products on the market. However, product value (ie. watt per dollar and quality per dollar) sucks. Many companies today provide comparable products or even better products at a fraction of the cost. JL is living off of their previous success and slightly above average products.....what company wouldn't? Still a company with nice products and h3lla marketing!

Revolutionize may have been a strong word, but as I stated "arguably" one of the best during that time. Many say JL wasn't **** during that time, but provide no facts to back their statement. Many people have resentment against JL b/c of the prices and their "not to good" customer service. But during that time period, what other subs were as good or better than the W6.

Kickers were better, I would take an S12D Solo vs any J/L product ever made. CV strokers and vega series, many can argue the Stroker was the sub that "revolutionized" subwoofers.

The Solo was VERY nice! and the Strokers as well....I don't believe I've heard the Vega series in anything other than a dj setup. However, I still believe JL was "one" of the best subwoofers in that period. Many people sit and bash a perfectly "above average" speaker b/c many other people fall to the scheme of marketing and feel they have the best speaker in the world. However, that should not take anything away from the performance and quality of the W6.

And with all that said, JL did not make the best speaker ever made, and Kicker did not make the best speaker ever made, etc., etc. There will never be a best speaker ever made, as long as there is competition and new advancements, alongside people's biased/unbiased, subjective, opinions.

There will never be a perfer speaker not merely becaus of newer and better products, but because of peoples listening preferences and what one perceivse as good sound vs someone else. Everyones got their own opinion and taste.

That statement is true....well I guess we agree.......except that JL ROCKS!!!! I digress. lol But a good product should not be bashed b/c many people have been riding it as the "best" ever..... JL had & still has good quality products. Maybe not the best, but not the worst either.

Everyone should reknize where the power lies. And I only paid $800 for this small sub, but it has the best SQ I have ever heard. Don't say I got ripped off neither, because they make a great product and I have rocked this sub for many years with little experience with many others to make a good judgment call, just know they are the company that led the revolution in super sub woofer technologies.
