Best Rattle Mod

Alright guys, what's the best free - cheap thing you've done to subside rattles from your subs? The trunk of my '03 rattles like it's made out of plastic, even on moderate volume. I don't want something heavy like dynomat, I love my acceleration.

Everything costs, you gotta pay to play...

Your best bet would be to donate to the org, search "sound deadening" and go from there.

There's gotta be something other than the stuff listed... I mean panels don't make noise by themselves, they're interacting and hitting against other pieces to cause the racket. There must be some key points where materials can be insulated from each other without having to coat entire panels.

I'm poke around myself this week and let you know if I find anything.

The weight you add with deadening is minimal, you could alway use expanding foam or something but why mess with that when deadening is tried and true?

Like Don said, man up and do it right. If your THAT worried about keeping your 'speed', then get rid of those heavy subwoofers. What weighs more, a 40-50 lbs of box and subs, or a 2-3 lbs of sound deadener? Get real, this is a retarded discussion.

The reason things "rattle" from bass is because all things have a harmonic frequency at which they resonate (technically they have more than one). The only way to eliminate the resonance is to add more weight to the item, so the frequency it resonates at is lower. So technically, it doesn't eliminate resonance, it just lowers the point at which it resonates to be lower than what your sub creates.
