The 10's are built differently than the 12's and 15's, the 12's and 15's are supposed to be more stout.

Things are a little slow here during the holidays. Lots of people are either taking finals or on trips. But do what you will.

I know the rears in the 5.5 are 6.5" and are also 6.5" in the front doors. I have no idea about the 4th gen though. I need to buy one for fun.

On a different note, it looks like I am going to wait to put the subs in. I really want to get some time in with the mids by themselves. And I am buying new struts and springs. If any of you have done struts/springs in a 5th gen, I have, you will know it would be almost impossible to get to the top of the strut housing with my box the way I want it. So that will have to wait. I AM still looking for a shop here to rip the boards for me though. I would like to get an idea of exactly how much space this sucker is going to take up.

I smell progress.

Man don't I wish. I will most likely be doing it in my garage with some rented spring compressors.

I may shoot down to Orlando when they get here and go to Mike's shop. He has a lift.

And I know someone there that owes me a brake job.

Either will fit. The rears may infact be 5.25"s. You will likely not notice any difference. Niether of these links worked for me though.

I don't use compressors when I dismantle the assembly, only when getting it back together. I just let them pop.

And I understand that the 6.5"s will fit perfectly, but won't the 5.25''s be too small?

Nothing an MDF ring couldn't fix. Those are great prices btw. I would, as many here will also, recommend that you just upgrade to something else if your budget permits. But if these are what you want, buy them. Too small isn't really an issue as you can make a mounting plate/ring for them. Too big and you generally need to cut or make rediculous baffles like I am having to do.

Honestly, with my 7" mids and huge motor, I really didn't have to cut, I chose to have Kevin do so the mid would be placed where I wanted it. Most 10"s have smaller motors than my 7"s do. So with the correct baffle, I doubt you would need to do much more than some minor trimming.

And yes, Don can fit 10"s in the 5th gen doors. How much sound in inhibited by the factory grill is up for debate. This is why I cut mine, err had Kevin cut em. I am muuuch happier I did it. Honestly was night and day without the restrictive stock grill.
