I am looking into replacing the Bose head unit that came with my '95 GLE. I want to install a JVC head unit with MP3 decoding.

I have read in a few places that I need to get some sort of adapter in order for the new head unit to work properly with the self-amplified Bose speakers.

Who better to go to for advice than all of you here at maxima.org?

What exactly do I need to do in order to rid myself of the Bose stereo and put in a nice, new JVC head unit? Do I also need to visit a dealer to get a tray to occupy some of the space taken up by the Bose unit?

Thanks,

Brian

Brian:
You need to get an inverter to your Bose system. You can pick up one at www.crutchfield.com or other sites. Make sure you tell them what make model and year of your car. I know that soundgate and peripheral makes them for your car. Go to your nearest Nissan dealership and get the radio pocket that goes underneath the stereo. The install kits I carry for the 5th gen Maximas look like crap. I bought the pocket myself and looks alot better. The Soundgate adapter I carry sells for $99.99 and it's a direct plug in to your factory harness. Let me know what happens...

Ouch! I wasn't expecting to pay $100! Are these my only options?

Just visited Peripheral's site and they had links to sites that sell their products. I found another item that says it supposed to work. http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/item...SCOFAI3&vq_id= Do you know if this would also work?

I checked out their site and according to them it should work. For $19.95 it sounds pretty cheap but should work. I would probably call them just to make sure about it. I don't sell Schoche here at Tweeter but it's a good accessory mfg. to go with. Let me know how it turns out...

Hey Brian...did you get your JVC deck installed already? How does it look/sound?

No, it will probably be at least a month before I get it. I was just wanting to know what I needed to do before I got started.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.
