A shop sold me a box for $20 bucks and they want to do the install for $120. They say I will need something that will connect between the amp and the sub box. What is this thing? The amp is a 4 channel in which 2 channels will run the 4 61/2 inside the car and the other 2 will run the sub. I was told at a meet to run the sub at 8ohms. I would like to save money by doing it myself.

Does anyone have diagrams for the best setup?

Thanks in advance.

I dont have any diagrams but here is what you need:

Amp kit $20-$30.00
Rca cables $15-$40.00 (depending on length)
speaker wire

and installation labor...thats it...you should have the amp professionally installed unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Hey Deez.
Go to cheston's site at www.maximadriver.com Hit the How2 section. I have a writeup on amp installation. You can do it, it isn't hard. If you're using 2 subs, and you're going to run it off a 2 channel amp bridged mono, then yes, the subs need to be 8ohm each. If you need some help, I'd be more than willing to help you online. (sorry I'm not closer) It's really not very hard to do. Biggest step is getting over the feel of trying something new. All the wires and cables should only cost you around $50 total if you know where to shop. ( www.partsexpress.com ) Let me know if I can help. As far as needing something extra, the only thing I can think of is a x-over. That way, the 6.5" speakers dont get too much bass, and the subs dont get too many high frequencies.

Thanks Maximadave and Whitemax. From what you guys have listed for pricing, I'll take it to the shop and have them do it the right way. I don't want to blow anything.
