I'm looking for an aftermarket HU to power my front and rear 75watt Infinity Kappa Perfects. I went to this one audio shop today and the sales person was showing me this Sony HU that was on sale from $400 to $250 Canadian. I always here people saying how Sony for car audio sucks, well is the same true for there headunits?

What companies made good headunit for decent prices? Also, what options should I look for when buying a new HU? Thanks,

Nathan

Thanks Maximadave, I'll give the website a look and get back to you on prices. I decided to get a HU and a 1 channel amp instead of buying a 5 channel amp because it would actually come out cheaper and I would get better sound quality.

If I buy a HU from you, can I install it myself and still have the warranty or do I have to go to an Eclipse dealer to get it installed? Does Eclipse make better HU's than Alpine? Thanks,

Nathan

I have an Eclipse TV in my car and the picture on it is better than the Alpine...Alpine to me on there head units are good but to me have a "busy" display on it. The Eclipse is more simple easy to read display with a better preamp section. If you want to go with an Eclipse deck check around at your local car audio shops and see what they can do for you. The decks to look at are the 54410, 5442I at least. They both have a subwoofer output on the deck so it makes it easier to control your subs in the trunk. See what models you can get and let me know what you find out. I'd rather have you buy one near you if you have a Tweeter store by your house, if not let me know.
