Guys~

Should I consider using 6.75" speakers instead of 6.5" since Nissan's 6.5" speakers are oversized?

I was looking at the Eclipse 82641's but they are only 6.5", and I'd like to find a speaker that will fit right in with out any modification.

BTW, I have a '97 SE w/ Bose.

Later,
-Nick

Easiest way is to just cut a trim ring from 1/4" plywood with a jigsaw that fits the opening, and secure it to the deck, then the speaker to it.

Ok guys...

Thanks for the help. I really want those Eclipse 82641's...I guess I can deal with making the rings.

I know that JL Audio vr650-cx fit in the rear deck without any problems. The holes even line up exactly for the screws. This is on my 1999 Maxima w/Bose. I am not sure about the fronts as I am waiting for my xr650-cs to come in. You may want to look at the JL Audio then check with MaximaDave for a good price.

when i put my Alpine's in, the edge of the speaker was right on top of the existing screw holes, so me and my dad had to use 1/2" plywood, and countersunk the holes so that the heads would be flush with the top of the wood, and then the speaker fit perfectly. took almost a whole day to get it right very worth it though.

now how about the fronts. 4x6's... i hear that they're oversized too.. is that true?

Even if the speakers fit perfectly, securing them on a rigid mdf baffle and sound deadening the door as much as possible is very beneficial.

This is from my firsthand experience.
Do it right, do it once!
