ACK! My stock Bose CD player is possessed!

I need some help with this one.
My '95 Max SE is all stock with no mods. The CD in the head unit is malfunctioning big time.
At first, it just wasn't accepting CDs. It would slowly (about 1/2 speed than normal) take it in, spin up, and then spit it out. Then it just didn't take them at all, like it was dead. So I figured well I'll finally just get a changer.
But now the CD player turns on by itself as if I was attempting to insert a disc! So I could be listenting to the radio, when suddenly it will switch to CD. It sounds like it's trying to spin up, but then the display reads "CD Err" and eventually turns itself off.
This really sucks. Can anyone help me triage this problem? Keep in mind that I'm not much of a do-it-yourself kinda guy when it comes to car audio.
Thanks.
