Question about factory warranty for online sales.

I've heard it said that when you buy certain brands of electronics online, the mfr. will not warranty that item.

Is this true? If so, where does it say so and which mfrs. do this?

I'm looking for a new stereo and want the best price which can usually be found online. But I've had h/u problems before and don't want to get screwed out of my warranty.

USCaraudio is not authorized for about 95+% of the mdse they carry...they usually state this in the bottom section of the page in very small letters. If you want to find out if they are authorized for a particular brand look at the mfg. web sites or call them.
USCar audio usually has a banner advertised here on Maxima.org

So USCarAudio is the only shop that is selling unauthorized merchandise online?

There are actually hundreds of on line sales selling car audio...to make sure you have the warranty contact the mfg. first prior to your order ro see if they are authorized...

Nope. In fact most online stores are not authorized for the brands they sell. Some are authorized for a few brands only.

Ones that are authorized for all their brands, Crutchfield.com, SoundDomain.com, ABT Electronics, Ampman Audio.

Best way to find out is to visit the manufacturers site and see if they have online sales restrictions. Generally the specialty car audio manufacturers (amp and speakers) don't allow online sales but for the most part most mass market companies that sell electronics such as headunits don't seem to make much of a fuss.

It is true that most major brands won't warrentee items bought online. Basically, if you can find the brand for sale in magazines like Crutchfield, then they will warrentee the product, but probably only through authorized dealers. If you have questions on if something will be warrenteed, then try and goto the manufactorers website and they normally will state somewhere on the main page in bold writing their policy on online sales.
