forget jbl, and forget crutchfield. no offense.

crutchfield's prices are ridiculously high.

how much power is your amp pushing?? that will help figure out what kind of sub you should get. and are you going for SQ (sound quality) or SPL?
there are a few good cheap subs out there.

forget the 1 or 2 tens and just go and get a single 12".

i just recently purchased a DD 3512 for $169USD.
i'm going for SQ on my install.

what's your price range at?

IM going for quality of sound. I listen to a lot of Techno/Rave music, and also a lot of hip hop, punk , and whatever you would clasify STABBING WESTWARD as .... mostly techno and SW though.
i have a 1000 watt 4 cannell amp for my regular speakers , but no amp yet for a sub. i want something basically that will hit hard , and also hit really low notes with quality. id probably be looking to spend like 100 for the sub(s) and whatever it costs for the amp i need ...

hmm, for 100 dollars i'm not really sure what you can get that will hit low and hard.

i just did a search on the net of some car audio sites looking for something that i'd recommend to you for that much. but i found nothing. i don't want to recommend something i know nothing about.

good luck.

you can try the nak if you want.

here's a couple i suggest.

infinity perfect 12"- $206.95 ( i hear good and bad about this)

a/d/s 12" - $199.00 (this is what i was going to get, really good SQ)

audiobahn 12" alum - ?????? i hear these are supposed to hit harrrrd along with good SQ.

eclipse alum 12" - ???????? good stuff from the one i heard..

digital design 3512 12" - $250 ( this is what i ended up getting.)

go to www.sounddomain.com and read the forums to see what they think on these. not very many bad things said.

sorry to hurt your feelings. Don't go by what others say listen b4 you buy it. i don't like it cuz it's a boomy sub it don't keep with teh music. it's more for spl than sq so if you want spl then yeah it's good...but not if you listen to music.

alright. lol. i'll take it.

it's just no one has them around here, they are too small a company for anyone to know except on the boards.

this guy should go and listen to all the subs in his area first. i agree with that.

Granted DD is an SPL sub, but u can still get SQ out of it while have SPL.......Remember it's all in the install......You can make a great sub like a Stroker sound like crap.......

yeah, i think the DD should be fine. i'm going to tune the box down to maybe 33, if not i'll stay and do 35.

most people that have them use them for SPL, so i think the low tune will make them sound nice. i'll let you all know how it goes.

for around $100, id buy a 12in IDQ... or 115 for a shiva, shipped (new). both are great subs, idq is VERY clean & good transient response (tight/quick beats)

shiva is similar, but gets louder, and requires larger box.

Look for a seller named scala1, he is very reliable. I buy alot of my stuff from him. I plan on purchasing 2 Audiobahn Alum12x's. They are one of hte best subs for the money right now, with 2 of these and a good 1200-1400watts you can hit 150+ dbs in a good tuned box!

Sorry but what is your problem with AudioBahn? Rated some of the best subs right now, especially the new one.

They may be designed for SQ, but people are also using them for SPL and hitting 150s with 1200-1500 watts to them! That's awesome

If you like very boomy not acurate bass then it's your sub...install can make anything sound better yes but at some point it comes down to what the equipment can do for you...dd is not going to give you great sq expecially when you can get another sub for that amount more geared toward sq.

I just don' tlike them and thats my opinion i don't ask anyone to hold it as gospal...if you like it or he likes it then great...to me and my taste it's way to boomy and not acurate plus they worked hard to make the basket chrome gave it a strong cone but way to large of a surround to keep it tight and clean...most of them are designed around spl first and formost.

You can find the IDQ 12 around 100 used online. Try sounddomain forums, or ebay. If the center cap logo is black, its a v1, it should be 15-20 cheaper. If its a color logo, its v2, handles more power, fits in smaller box. Thats the 100 used i said.

As for the shiva new, www.ampmanaudio.com .. if you need help with the shiva, forum.teamamp.com .. dan wiggins (owner of adire) is a VERY helpful and friendly guy. As is Canuck (who happens to be a Maxima owner! hes affiliated with ampman in some way, i just dont remember how right now)

If you prefer new, and can spare trunkspace.. you'd be amazed what the shiva (or its big brother, tempest [15in] can do [$140 shipped, 30day moneyback guarentee, same on shiva])

Good luck with yer system.

Power Acoustik.....ROFL....

Anyhow, yeah I'm sorta affiliated with Ampman, and I still have my old '89 Max SE rust bucket

I used to help with online sales requests with Ampman. Right now I'm sticking to technical support mainly for the products I've tested before from samples I recieved from them.

How's it going Dave?

The new Pioneer Type R subs have some good reviews. I've never been much of a fan for Cerwin Vega subs myself besides their older Stealth series woofers. I think that there are better subs for the same money than the CV's.

You should look into the Adire Shiva 12" or the Tempest 15" subs for the money they are very good subwoofers that outperform many that cost more. Another good brand are DEI and Image Dynamics....

Goin ok, school sucks. Think Dan would donate a sample shiva to me to compare with the IDMax?

No way, I got my Max for 305 shipped !! Heh, if i had a reason to buy a shiva, i would. But I dont. Got all my stuff waiting.. stinkin bigbrakes and midterms. Sometimes i wish i woulda bought a tempest, but the 4ohm setting makes me feel like my DEI 1100D is being wasted. (yes, i got one too)

Anyways, does my gf count for charity? Shes got one used IDQ12 (v2) and a USAcoustics 2150 .. hehe
