I am thinking of getting an EQ, which ones would you recommend? Price really isn't a concern, but it will be taken into consideration. You help is appreciated.

Do you want a trunk-mounted set-it-and-forget-it EQ just to match the components to each other and to the car or do you want a dash-mounted EQ that will allow you to tune the system for each CD? Or both?

Audio Control

It has a few different types that range from in dash half din units, to the full blown EQT's. For good systems that have good flexibility, I like the EQX. Although oneday, I dream of getting a pair of EQTs.

I think I want a dash mounted one just because my Quarts are so inconsistant. I also am not too sure about adding another thing to my trunk either.

I know how you feel, i have MB components up front and the EQ helps a lot. As far as in-dash EQ's, look at Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, Audio Control, Image Dynamics, or something within those high caliber equipment. I'm looking to sell my Alpine half DIN EQ ERE-G180. This is a 11 band EQ, sub control and all. Has 3 pre-outs on it. Let me know if your interested.

How much are you looking to sell it for? I may be interested. . . I still need to do some reasearch on the subject, but I think this will help dramatically with how my quarts sound.

It will help a lot. It did for me. Are you MB's being pushed by an amp? I'm using a PPI A600 to power mine. This runs for 225 new. I have everything for it still, box and all. I'm asking 125obo for it or we can work a deal. Let me know.

Yeah, I am using a PPI PC4400 to power them (I think it might be the new version of the amp you are running). How well does it fit in the dash? Is there a kit for a half din, or would I have to custom make one? And how easy is it to install? Sorry for all the Q's. . . Just haven't seen an eq. installed in the dash of the Max. As for price. . . I probably could pay $125 total for it (as far as price + shipping). It would depend on my financial situation for this month. Let me know what you think.

We can work a deal like that if ya like. There isnt a kit for the Max with a half DIN. What you can do is install it in one of the empty openings. Perhaps the one with the little door on it. Hide it behind that. You can cut a piece of lexan (from hobby store) and trim it around to fit and use double sided tape which works too. There are a couple of ways of doing it. It is very easy to install. 2 screws and a braket and thats it! Use the piece of lexan as a trim plate and it's done. As far as hooking up the wires, i have the instructions for it that tells you what does to where or i can jsut tell ya.

My Alpine HU and ERE-G180 are mounted together in the stock double-DIN opening with a kit. A trim panel fills in the extra space at the bottom.

The "new" version of the PPI A600 is the PC 2600
150W x2 rms..
I'm using the semi-new version (A600.2) on my subs and it's a monster..
what's worse is that I'm running an even bigger amp on my mids! (PPI A404.2, running 200Wx2 rms. ) hehehe kaboom!

but yup, an EQ would help tremendously if you're running MB Quart components. I used to have a Pioneer DEQ-9200.. it was a full-DIN faceplate, with a hideaway processor and box on it.. it mounted in the trunk and you ran one set of RCAs to it from your head unit.. it did all crossover, EQ, and time alignment functions right from the blinky display on the dash.. had a 20 band "spectrum analyzer" on it too, so it always had lotsa blinky lights..

sounq quality wasn't amazing, but usually EQs like these never are..
you can probably buy them new for about $325 or so, and used for $150-200..
they do more than just your everyday EQ though- which is why they cost more..
if ya want more info, let me know, or go to pioneer's website. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com

EQ

If you have the money i would go with the zapco SX-SL. it will cost you about $1000 in the store plus you need a power supply to run it ($150). Check out this site http://www.zapco.com/sound/index3.html If you don't have the mooney go with the audio contorl 4.1 ($300) or 3.1 ($279) depending on your system setup. i've been installing car stereo for over 4 years and i have a lot of experience. if you tell me how you system is setup and how much money you want to spend and i'll help you pick one. by the way i have the Sony CDX-C90 head, Audio Control 4.1,
Audio Control 4xs, Sony XDP-U50D sound field processor, PPI TD450 and TD275 Tube Driver Amps, Candence AH7C Mono Block Amp, Dynaudio 1" and 3" in custom kicks that i made and 8" in stock front door location, 3 12" Image Dynamic DVC's. if you need so help i also know where to get stereo equipment cheap.

I ahve in my system, MB Quart Mobil RSB 218 Seperates in the front, Mobil 160.03kx coaxs in the rear powered by a PPI PC 4400, wired a 4x50 @ 4 Ohms. For the sub I have a 12" Kicker Soloberic D-Series being powered by a PPI PC2400 wired at 1x200 at 2 OHMs (as the speaker is 2 Ohm and the amps isn't 1 Ohm stable).

I don't want to spend all that much on a EQ. $1000 is out of the question, but I want something that works well, but that's adjustable in the car. . . Also the more money it is, the longer I will have to wait to get it, and this is something that annoys me to a degree right now. . . I am more than happy to take recommendations for EQ's, it would help me out a lot, but I really don't want to spend more than I spent on any one of the compenents of my system. I would probably say that $300 would be my max, as I don't need anything but something that will make my system sound less metallic than it currently does, and it certainly doesn't need to be flashy.

The Alpine ERE-G180 is $250 retail. You can probably get it for cheaper online. That will do what you are looking for.

they are wholesalers that sell on the web. you can save anywhere for 10%-60% off of what it costs in the store. i reccommend the audio control units. the 3.1 and 4.1 are excellent. From want you say the 3.1 would probabl work well. good luck

But the 4.1 has only 4 bands of equalization. That's just not worth the money or the trouble. The 11-band EQs cover the entire range better and allow for more precise tuning of the entire range.

I have a sony Xe-744 for sale if interested

I'm selling it for $250, got all the boxes and stuff that came with it.
I know alot of ppl don't really like Sony stuff but this is a real good eq. Only reason I am selling is because I have changed to a head unit with a built in eq and crossover.

check out at http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=10360

for picture.

Thanks
