Which RF amp for a Kicker 12" L7?

I plan on getting a 12" L7 in a ported box and i was wondering what Rockford Fosgate amp to use on it?

- 12" L7 wired 4Ohms with a RF Power 800.2?

- 12" L7 wired 2Ohms with a RF bd500.1?

would these setups be alright(cause im not too sure bout the hook ups) and which would be better? thanks

Damn a Power 800.2 is gonna rip the speaker apart. I got a Regular 800.2 and It pushes about 1050watts on the birth certificate. I say dont get a 800.2, you will be over powering it and wasting money.

You can do fine with a Regular 500.2, not a power series.

Try not to go more than 700RMS on the amp. This is what max should say on the Birth Certificate of the RF amps.

Thanks for the reply BigDog.. Would the bd500.1 be better or more efficient than the 500.2?

Which would you choose? thanks again

It depends on what type of speaker you get.. If you haven't purchased it already, and money isn't an issue, go with the power 800.2, and a dual 2ohm coil L7 .. That's a bit of overkill but L7's are good subs, they can handle it.

If you can get a substantial discount on the bd500, go with that. It'll run your electrical system less, and the difference between the 700w you get from the bd, and the 1000w you get from the 800 will be minimal (1-2dB roughly) .. Just be sure you get the dual 4ohm coil L7 for that one .. wrong sub = wrong ohms = stink!

Well, the bd500.1 is actually $70 cheaper in MSRP price. So I guess that would be better, cause they are both pratically the same except that the 500.2 is a two channel amp the 500.1 is a one channel amp.

I mean with RF amps, you really need to look at the Birth Certificates, cause they only give the TRUE rated power.

first of all great choice of subs got 2 myself...if i were u id honestly get a rf800a1 and run it at 4 ohms. those subs demand power trust me. by next 2 weeks im gunna run another 800a2 to my other sub. they peak at 1500 so more power the better.
