Preamp Outputs Voltage?

Lil education needed. I was to basicly make my system louder. I have a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP. I fould out the preamps are 2.2 volts, so that how much I run the gains from my amps up to, but I WANT MORE...

I was thinking about getting an HU with more preamp voltage in the RCAs, leaning towards eclipse but i'm not sure if it makes sense. If i keep running the gains on the amp with the voltage of the HU, won't it sound the same volume either way no matter what the voltage is/ plus strain the amp out even more?

I was also into the whole equilizer with a preamp (KQ9) thing, but the HU has tons of options as it is, so I don't know...opinions/ ideas?

thanks

If your gains are properly set and you want more voume, you will need to get an amplifier that will provide more power.

I hope you're not using the voltage levels that are printed on the amp to set the gains, as these are rarely ever correct and should not be used to set gains. Set the volume on you HU about 3/4 the way up with the gain on the amp all the way down, and slowly begin to raise the gain on the amp. Use your ears man and just listen for audible clipping(distortion) and back off a little.

Also, your HU will only drive the RCA's to 2.2v at max volume, , not all the way through the volume range...
