AM reception knocked out

I installed a new headunit on my 1997 Maxima. (1997 bose headunit). Everything works except no
AM stations come in. Only static. I get FM fine. Did I burn something out? Any suggestions welcome.

It could be a bad ground, or a bad antenna connection. Go to the faqs page. I know that at least one of the links has possible remedies for this ailment.

on am reception..nissan ivested alot of money into their tuners...( Common for car manufacturers )..and they use that speical "diversity" system..when you install the new stereo...the tuner system doesn't take advantage of the diversity system...so you lose out on AM reception, i've learned this last week..i work at best buy in Dublin, Ca..and we did a cd-changer/deck install in a 2000 max and the AM went completely out..and this "elderly" d00d was really ****ed...

Many aftermarket receivers are diversity compatable. And if you have one that is not then there is a pretty simple adapter available.

I think that's your problem. You're still trying to get what you need at Best Buy. They have some decent prices on a few select items, but not a tremendous variety to choose from. You will also notice they don't carry top of the line in any brand. The adapter in my car works fine with my Sony HU.
