Need Help, Amp shorting out at high volume?

I need help, that's why i'm here.
Just bought a 10" Kicker L5. Crazy bass for a 10".
i had an old kicker amp 350w which i hook up to sub on 2000 i30.
At high volume the amp cuts off, when i lower the volume it comes back on.
I'm thinking it needs more power. Do i need a capacitor? a better amp?

you need a bigger amp. most likely it's going into thermal protection at high volumes and shutting itself off. how high are the gains?

You are asking your amp to produce more power than it can. Turn the boost down and readjust your gains in the meantime till you pick up a bigger amp.

make sure you've got decent size power and ground cable going to it as well.. what size wire are you using?

ok, thanks. i'm not sure of the gauge of the wire, it is a decent size though. one more thing, it's wired in parallel not series. which wiring produces more power, does it matter?
