questions about the stock bose...

i have a 2002 maxima... with the 6 disk bose unit..

i already know that i have the loose cd change ribbon problem... and found the tutorial on how to fix it....

but my issue is the sound quality.

the car doesnt thump ...and thumps other times...

basicly... when on the radio... its not that impressive... the bass isnt hit hard or anything...

but on the radio.... even with my left side speakers not working at all becuase of that ribbon... it still manages to hit hard... but only on certain cds.... like my techno..

i know its not because of the cd... i encoded and burned them all the same...

my rock stuff isnt hitting as hard.... and my techno just blows me away for a stock system.... whereas in my other car...they both sound nice.

and the radio is just plain flat...

its almost like my subwoofer turns off or something on certain cds/songs...etc.

anyone else experiancing this?

+1 with nismos14. Get rid of Blose stuff.

Aftermarket stuff look excellent and performs much better than Blose.
The original Blose looks just OK.

However, I am still using Blose amp./speakers because I don't have enough time to replace them.

It's not supposed to be anything, it's just like J/L very well marketed.

speaking of bose, i have a 02 bose 6 disc changer system as well and i was thinking about putting in a Pioneer AVIC-D3 navi so do i have to replace the speakers as well? I would like to keep the speakers, sub and amp while using the pioneer navi. possible?

I have a similar question, and I don't want to **** everyone off with thie same 'ol Blose thread...

I finally am giving up on the stock HU. After being fixed, the problem with the sound cutting out has returned, except now the system is constantly skipping and the beginning and end of every CD.

I want to get a new system and keep the original speakers. I also want to keep my steering wheel controls functional. Is there any way to do this that DOES NOT involve getting one of those dumb IR SWI adapters that have to be "line-of-sight" with the HU?
Is there a list somewhere of HU that would be compatible?

Thanks!

if you like the look of the head unit...you can keep it and still get good sound. you can get all new aftermarket speakers and a sub and run them right off the deck...or better yet use a signal processor to filter your signal to the amps. expensive...but you CAN get high quality sound with a factory head unit...as long as you're willing to pay
