Need help wiring my capacitor... Audio Gurus' come on in...

Im running a single 12" Kicker L7, with a mono Kicker amp I believe Its a kx600.1

I just purchased a 2 farad Power Acoustik capacitor. I need help with he wiring. In the instructions its says that:

I need a distribution block? Do I really need this in order to wire it in?

I figure I run the Power from the battery to the Capacitor.

Then the Positive from the cap to the Amp???

The negative from the Cap to a Ground on the frame?

Any help before I fry my system or set fire to my car is appreciated.

You shouldn't have wasted money on the cap. they're useless, always, and running only 600 watts you shouldnt have a problem anyways

return it to the store?

Easy way to wire it is to throw it in the garbage.

No place for the cap! Either return it or get rid of it. Of course you can send it to me. I need big caps in the usage other than car audio.

Attach wire to garbage bag
Attach other end of wire to cap.
Throw garbage bag out window, and cap will follow.
Hilarity ensues.

It's only hilarious if you light it on fire first.

O.k. Where do I start???

mendon99:
Its not returnable. I was planning on running another 400 watts for my highs/mids... I have dimming of the interior gauges and heard It helped take some load off of the alternator??? (Oh It looked nice in the trunk as well) Thanks

nismos14: Thanks, but the garbage isn't an option.

svojs: I would only sell it, besides you can go to Virgina and buy some caps along with a Desert Eagle If thats your flavor...

djfrestyl: You know it would be funnier if I threw the cap out the window so that the garbage bag acts like a parachute floating down to the gutter below... lol (Oh positive or negative wire?? does it matter??)

nismos14: Nahh the flames would just burn the parachute...

bi30: Amp-300 Watts RMS x 1 @ 4 Ohms 600 Watts RMS x 1 @ 2 Ohms
Sub: 750 Watt RMS. You think this is a good match?

Thanks for your input and laughs everyone. Once again I'm asking If anyone else knows how to wire a Capacitor, thanks again...

And we're giving you sound advice that you don't need it, it is detrimental to your system, and a waste of time/money. If you ask for advice and we give it to you, but you don't want to take it, well you're just hanging yourself.

If your lights are dimming, upgrade your grounds, and do the big 3. A capacitor is a bandaid.

Seriously, some of us know what we're talking about.

Not a good match for amp and sub, you need a amp with rms of at least 750 rms.
you can give the amp to me and buy another one.
i have the same problem, you don't need a cap.

I do know alot of you know what your talking about, because Im obviously asking you guys...

Dont take my sarcasim for not listening to you guys... Im just making a joke like the rest of you...

Adampit: Im looking at it as we speak, thanks alot..

Make sure the grounds on your amp match the gauge of your power cable. If you're running 8 gauge, upgrade to 4. Make sure the paint is sanded off the contact point where your grounding terminal for the amp connects to the chassis.

Big 3:
Battery negative to chassis
Battery negative to engine
Battery positive to alternator

Usually the big 3 is done with 1/0 gauge wire. Make sure the wire going to the alternator is fused.

Also, you're a supporting member. Information about the big 3 could be found if you searched.

True, you beat me to it.. lol
Believe it or not, I actually do use the search... alot lol

Also, how big a fuse should I get for the alt-positive wire? In your opinion?

Thanks DJfrestyl

Stock alternator can put out what? 110amps? No more than that I'd say.

Can someone else confirm this?
