5.5 gen non Bose HU questions

Is the factory HU have a clean enough sound to be worth adding an amp and better speakers to? It sounds decent to me overall but seems to clip too easily at higher volumes. I really don't want to replace the HU and deal with the steering wheel controls and trip computer wiring unless I have to.

Besides, I wasn't able to get my Pioneer HU out of my totaled 626 before the insurance company got it.

I think the speakers sound good. Replace the tweeter, put in an amp and a sub. I blew the crappy sub in my 00 within a month.

I briefly had my old old subs hooked up to the non-bose and it clipped all the time. You might find a local orger to do the steering wheel controls/trip control.
