7" Panasonic CN-NVD905U Strada....thoughts???

Any thoughts on this unit. I read through the basic specs:

* 30GB HDD
* SD Memory Card Slot for Map Data Upgrade
* Dolby Digital Decoder
* DVD Video and WMA/MP3 Playback
* Full Coverage Across the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico
Touch screen, TFT active matrix, On-screen menu, IPod compatible, Upgradable firmware
SO for $600 is this a good unit to start out with. I'm just looking for a basic indash GPS, dvd system and this seems nice entry price.

ALSO wonder if it could work as carPC screen???????????

Okay, please elaborate a little more than just "its crap". Any personal dealings with this unit. Or, are you just a fanboy of other pricier toys??

No steering wheel controls, you can't upload songs to the hd, no remote, no advantage over other units that are similar in price.

D3 > Pan.

Seems like the Clarion max675 would be a better unit?

I think thats what I'm gonna go with..

Bluetooth

External Dolby Digital processor

Steering Wheel control

Better Ipod interface with Ipod video support (160 GB ftw)

Also, I dont use nav...

Hmm..

D3 is a very good price for all the features.

Any other opinions/options"?

Needs:
7" screen
Bluetooth
Excellent Ipod Video integration
Video in motion
Dolby digital capabilities. (My car has a center channel from the factory, and I want to use it)
Double Din only.

Pioneer AVIC

Personally I like the Pioneer AVIC Z2. The steering wheel controler will need to be purchased seperately (~$40), the bluetooth is also seperate (~$70). It is voice activiated, can play mp3's & dvd's and songs can be ripped to the hard drive. You can also load a few jpeg pics for a splash screen, nav screen, menu screen, caller id, and location points.

Again, the downside is that ipod, tv, xm traffic & radio, siris, wheel control, & bluetooth are seperate. On the plus side, there is a great nav system w/ multiple map views (3d even !), its voice activated, it rips cd's & saves jpegs & locations, has searchable POI database yadda, yadda, yadda. Its pretty cool.
