I NEED YOUR ADVISE BEFORE I START DROPPIN' MONEY ON THESE COMPONENTS FOR MY 1991 MAXIMA SE. I WANT TO BUILD A A/V SYSTEM. I WAS LOOKING AT: POWER-ACOUSTIK PTID-644 IN DASH 6.4 LCD MONITOR, POWER-ACOUSTIK PADVD-100R IN DASH DVD/CD/MP3/FM, BAZOOKA RS104DV DUAL VOICE COIL BASS TUBE, INFINITY KAPPA 462.3CFP FOR THE FRONT, INFINITY KAPPA 692.3I FOR THE REAR DECK. I ALSO NEED ADVISE ON WHAT AMP TO USE TO POWER ALL THIS STUFF. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD STICK WITH THE BASS TUBE OR GO WITH ANOTHER TYPE OF SUB HOOK-UP? ALSO WANTED TO GET 5.1 SURROUND SOUND SO DOES THAT CHANGE SOME OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SYSTEM? JUST LET ME KNOW, RIGHT NOW I HAVE TOO MANY QUESTIONS. Sounds like a good system. I'm a huge fan of JL Audio amps. It is what I use in my Max....retail wise the 300/4 75WX4 amp for your mids and highs retails for $500.00, I'm not a fan of bass tubes but I would go with a custom box in your trunk for better bass response. I'm running 2 JL Audio 10W3's in my trunk and sounds great. It's running off a 250 watt sub amp by JL as well. Retail is about $360.00. If you are looking at a different price point look into Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, or Xtant amps would be good choices as well. One thing you should consider first is to Dynamat your trunk so when your system is playing at a moderate high level, your trunk won't rattle anymore. Do you plan on installing this yourself or do you plan on having it professionally installed?

Thanks for responding. What did you think of the Power Acoustik components? What about 5.1 surround sound? What about a center channel? I'm going to leave the installation to the professionals.

 

I'm not a huge fan of 5.1 surround sound for the car, that would be up to you. I think that belongs at home not the car. The Power Acoustik speakers would be up to you. Everyone's ear is tuned differently. I personally like the Boston Pro series and RM series of speakers and the Eclipse Point Source speakers which I have in my Maxima. Besides price listen to the speakers with very well recorded music and make your decision then.
